Lagos State is set to receive a $200 million bank loan from the World bank as scheduled. The loan that was originally approved in 2010 for a Development Policy Operational Loan to the Lagos State government, totaling $600 million was granted over three tranches, with $200 million given in each phase.
Senator Gbenga Ashafa, representing Lagos-East senatorial district, says that he has every faith that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode will utilize the funds appropriately for the desired project and based on their former track record and how well the loans were applied in the first 2 tranches, that he expects no less, that the final loan will be used accordingly.
The Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Foreign and Local Debts visited Lagos on an inspection tour of projects, among others such as the 1.36km Lekki-Ikoyi Link Bridge, the Gbagada General Hospital, the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, and the Light Rail Project along the Mile 2- Orile corridor.
