Thousands of Nigerian girls die Anually of Abortion Complication- NMA

The Nigeria Medical Association Committee on Girl Child Education, stated on Wednesday that over 50,000 girl children die each year of abortion complication, this is due to in part poorly or wrongly done abortion.

Contributing factors such as lack of education and awareness available to girl children as well as associated peer pressure leads to such an astronomically high figure.

Speaking on an awareness campaign organized by the Committee at Model Girls’ Secondary School, Ugwuachara, Ebonyi State, the National President of the Committee, Chidi Esike, decried the high level risk involving Nigerian girl children, as stated in Times Ng.

He goes on to urge girls to abstain from sexual intercourse until they reach maturity and to instead focus on their education.
